Second day of relay in Beijing ends at Temple of Earth

(BEIJING, August 7) -- The second day of the Torch Relay in Beijing ended as the last torchbearer, singer Song Zuying, lit the cauldron before the Worship Platform at the Temple of Earth at 6:30 p.m.

Following the first day of the Torch Relay in Beijing, the Olympic torch continued on to the outskirts of Beijing today. The flame traveled 14.576 kilometers through the seven suburban county towns of Yanqing, Changping, Huairou, Miyun, Pinggu, Shunyi and Tongzhou.

A few well-known sport stars were among the 268 torchbearers, including Olympic champion Liu Xuan, two-time Table Tennis world champion Liu Guozheng, Olympic Flatwater Canoe champion Yang Wenjun and XXIII World Universiade champion Hu Kai from Tsinghua University.

(QIQIHAR, July 13) -- Liu Yan, female skating champion of the 10th National Games, carried the flame from the Party Office Center Square at 8:10 a.m. as the first torchbearer of the Qiqihar leg of the Olympic Torch Relay, the last stop in Heilongjiang Province.

A total of 208 torchbearers will participate in the 7.5 km-long relay. Liu Jianrong, director of a local heavy equipment enterprise; Liang Chunsheng, a local teacher; Liu Yukun, an athlete with a disability; and Ma Liang, a hammer athlete, are among the 208 torchbearers.

Qiqihar is a major city in Heilongjiang Province. Close to Qiqihar are numerous wetlands and the Zhalong Nature Reserve, famous for being home to numerous red-crowned cranes.


This is all about the torch relay that happens before every Olympic. And this year the Olympic is being hold in Beijing.
